Stuttering Program

Stuttering results from a disorganization of the central nervous system. Through repetitive exercises on the Giger MD® and audio-vocal loop training, we achieve a 70 to 80% success rate with lasting reduction in stuttering from just 6 to 8 sessions.

An innovative stuttering program: Giger MD® and audio-vocal feedback for speech fluency

The Activate® center in Geneva offers a unique, integrative approach to stuttering treatment, built on two complementary pillars: neuro-motor exercises on the Giger MD® device and audio-vocal training. This combination aims to fundamentally reprogram the neurological and auditory circuits underlying the disorder.

Giger MD®: correcting central nervous system disorganization

Stuttering is often linked to functional disorganization of the central nervous system (CNS), particularly in the coordination of sensorimotor loops involved in speech. The Giger MD® helps reorganize these neural networks through rhythmic, symmetrical exercises of all four limbs, performed lying down and combined with cognitive work.

Each session lasts 20 minutes and generates over 30,000 articulated movements, thereby stimulating brain plasticity. Noticeable changes appear within 6 to 8 sessions, including improved vocal and respiratory coordination, reduced physical stress, and renewed confidence. The results achieved are often long-lasting, thanks to the motor relearning effect on the corticospinal circuits involved in speech.

Audio-vocal loop: retraining listening to free the voice

Alongside this, work with a microphone and headset addresses the sensory aspect: it aims to correct listening distortions and retrain the audio-vocal loop. Stuttering is frequently associated with imbalanced listening, particularly poor auditory lateralization or selective hyperacusis. Through reading sessions using an electronic ear, the brain relearns to correctly process sound information, thereby improving real-time speech control.

The combined effects of motor stimulation (Giger MD®) and auditory stimulation (Tomatis®) enable smoother integration of the sensorimotor circuits of language, essential for stable and confident speech.

Promising and measurable results

Our experience shows that 70 to 80% of patients treated at the Activate® center experience near-complete cessation of stuttering by the end of the protocol. These improvements apply to both children and adults, and are measurable both subjectively (verbal ease, confidence) and objectively (fluency, pauses, repetitions).

A free initial information session

We offer every new patient a free information session with our specialist, with no obligation. This allows us to assess expectations, needs, and therapeutic options together.
